Little things can make a life's worth of difference

Lights out Alice!
This post was inspired by the answer to the question on quora, What are the simplest things one can do to make oneself happier?
This answer was written by Brad Einarsen. His answer is as follows:
When I was in a dark period I instituted a simple rule that changed my life.
Rule: When I arrive home from work, the very first thing I tell my wife is the best thing that happened that day.
No exceptions. No complaining. Just the best thing that day, even if it was just a good cup of coffee. This had the effect of starting our evening off on a positive note and it changed our relationship.

Taking this concept one step ahead, first of all, happiness is a function of our environment and surroundings. If the world is grouchy, you cannot be happy. If the world is messing up your life, you cannot be happy. But then again, how you feel about the world is totally dependent on the way you are feeling inside. If you are writhing in pain inside, the world will annoy you. Everyone you meet or come in contact with would want to irritate you and get on your nerves. Therefore, it is you that makes the difference. Everything else that follows is a domino effect.

I always wanted to write about things that i can do that will help change me for the better. There is a constant desire to improve myself, restrained only by the ever increasing need to procrastinate them all.

First of all, shut up! True, you need to shut up to actually make others shut up. Calm down, stop talking, take in the situation and then keep quiet. Keep quiet, and listen, not just because of the fact that you cannot keep your ears from listening, but listen because that is the only thing that can help you at that point in time.

Every bone in your body will want to reply to that person, you may feel that this is it, if you don't reply then you are going to burst and the whole world will come apart, but NO, DON'T REPLY. In situations where logic takes a back seat, arguments are bred. In these situations, never open your mouth, even if your life may depend on it, because ultimately it will all pass.

It will all go away. Nothing will stay. Not even the pain. Life is a long journey to numbness. The feeling that will make everything that hurts become so distant and unattached that no emotional attachment will remain. How fast we get there depends on how much we can restrain ourselves from the urge to reply.

Words are the greatest betrayers of our thoughts and minds. Hope we use less and less of them.
Lights out Alice!
