Relativity of things

Lights out, Alice!

Hang on! I am not going to talk about the physics behind the relativity of things, i wish i could, but no, this is a more real life interpretation of life as we know it. It is a rat race, and like it or not you are a part of it. Yup, you have to run and run like everyone is out there to kill you, because they are.

When i say the relativity of things, i mean the comparison that we humans tend to put ourselves to. Introspection always takes place with you and your values being seated on one end of a balance (which is hanging directly over a water body filled with sharks and you don't know how to swim to begin with) with your inner conscience deciding on the counter balance. The amount of counter weight would actually depend on how angry/sad we are with ourselves. If we hate ourselves for something that we have done in the recent past, don't expect to be hanging in balance comfortably. The balance will tip over on your side and you are going down.

I did something great today. I came home only to be greeted by the news that some third person (whom i didn't give a damn about) has achieved something that would make my success sound puny. I am immediately disheartened, saddened, forget all about the warm and fuzzy feeling that i got from my achievement today and everything shatters. The million pieces of shattered hope lie on the floor in a orientation so randomly specific that all i can think about is how futile my efforts are.

How all i do amounts to nothing. You begin to wonder, where did i go wrong ?
And then you discontinue, depart, resign, disconnect and start withdrawing from all things you were all so enthusiastic about just a few minutes back.

It is gone. Nothing is the same. The stability of life can never be regained again. The chi is gone.
Lights out, Alice!

But then, in the comfort of your pillow and the dark of the night you realise, it was worth it. It is always worth the success, however small it may be. Just be sure that you grow to newer horizons, not narrow your visions to focus only on the brighter side of things.
